Creative Update 2024
A list of everything I am doing and have been enjoying this year!
So much of this started as a way to share my publications and I have been enjoying so many other things as of late that haven’t been published online but I wanted to share what else I am up to creatively.
Biggest Secret: YouTube
I have been making videos and posting them on YouTube with very little fanfare, but I can explain:
The main thing I had heard was that you want to develop “organic traffic” and let an audience discover you on your own, but I am proud of the work I have been doing and posting over there and how could I not reward those who have supported me so much?
I’ve loved learning about new cameras, how to light a shot, how to greenscreen and everything else that has gone wrong in the past.
I have big plans for a new channel one day, but right now making little videos has been a joy.
Project 2: Comic Book
I am drawing and painting a comic! It is a direct adaptation of a short story I published a few years ago and am very excited at the snails-pace I am working on it during my marginal free time.
The final thing will be 16 pages, but here is the first page!
After completion, I’d love to try a Kickstarter to go through the process of bringing a thing to life and into people’s hands.
Project 3: Novel
I’ve been tinkering away at a novel for about three years now and have finally had a moment of clarity that has given me a way forward to keep working on that in earnest soon!
Project 4: New Career
I am transitioning away from teaching for a bit to find a job that works with the amount of time I want to spend with my kids. I am looking to go into data analysis/data science and have been working on bolstering my portfolio of work in that field. Lately that’s been with some March Madness statistics.
